CVE-2026-60992 – Unauthenticated Remote Compromise – Oracle Identity Manager Connector 12.2.1.4.0 /

Be the first to know when new zero-days emerge:

Summary

CVE-2026-60992 is a vulnerability in the Oracle Identity Manager Connector component of Oracle Fusion Middleware that allows an unauthenticated attacker with network access via TLS to compromise the product. Oracle rates this vulnerability as difficult to exploit, but successful exploitation results in a complete takeover of the Oracle Identity Manager Connector, impacting confidentiality, integrity, and availability. The flaw was disclosed as part of Oracle’s August 2026 Critical Security Patch Update.

Technical details

  • Root cause: Oracle’s advisory describes the flaw only at a high level — a vulnerability in the Oracle Identity Manager Connector that permits an unauthenticated attacker to compromise the component over the network; Oracle has not published low-level technical root-cause detail (e.g., specific class/endpoint) in the public CVE record.
  • Trigger conditions: Exploitation requires network access to the affected component via TLS. Oracle classifies the attack complexity as High, meaning exploitation depends on conditions beyond the attacker’s control (e.g., specific configuration or timing), which is why it is described as "difficult to exploit."
  • Attack vector: Network (remote), over TLS, with no privileges and no user interaction required (PR:N, UI:N).
  • Impact: Full compromise of the Oracle Identity Manager Connector, with high impact to confidentiality, integrity, and availability (C:H/I:H/A:H) — consistent with complete takeover of the affected component.

Affected software

  • Oracle Identity Manager Connector (Oracle Fusion Middleware) version 12.2.1.4.0
  • Oracle Identity Manager Connector (Oracle Fusion Middleware) version 14.1.2.1.0

Severity

  • CVSS v3.1 Base Score: 8.1 (High)
  • Vector: CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:H/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H

Mitigation and recommended actions

  • Immediate: Apply the Oracle Identity Manager Connector patches released in Oracle’s August 2026 Critical Security Patch Update (published August 18, 2026) for affected versions 12.2.1.4.0 and 14.1.2.1.0. Oracle strongly recommends applying these fixes as soon as possible, as historically no workarounds are provided for these types of flaws due to the threat posed by a successful attack.
  • If immediate patching is not possible: Restrict network access to Oracle Identity Manager Connector interfaces to trusted internal networks only, and ensure TLS-exposed management/connector interfaces are not reachable from untrusted or internet-facing segments until the patch can be applied.
  • Review Oracle Identity Manager deployments for related components patched in the same and prior Critical Patch Updates, as Oracle Identity Manager has been the target of multiple critical vulnerabilities disclosed throughout 2026.

How IONIX’s External Exposure Management Platform Detects and Validates
Zero-Days to Shrink MTTR

1

Map your entire attack surface (continously)

IONIX uses multi-factor discovery methods, including DNS analysis, certificate mapping, metadata inspection, and more, to automatically map every internet-facing asset across your environment. This includes cloud instances, third-party platforms, shadow IT, and even forgotten infrastructure that traditional tools miss.

2

Monitor for new CVEs

Dozens of threat intel feeds using agentic technology are continuously analyzed to detect the appearance of proof-of-concept code, exploit kits, and indicators of active targeting. IONIX goes further by applying AI to proactively evaluate whether emerging vulnerabilities are likely to be exploited, even before PoCs go public.

3

Identify Potential External Exposures

Not all CVEs matter. IONIX filters vulnerabilities by asking attacker-centric questions: Can it be reached from the internet? Does it require authentication? Is it being exploited in the wild? This dramatically reduces noise and focuses teams on threats that can actually be weaponized.

4

Create Safe, Scalable Exploit Validations

IONIX transforms real-world PoCs into safe, non-intrusive test payloads that can be run in production environments without disruption. These simulations are precisely targeted to the systems that are vulnerable, ensuring rapid validation without unnecessary load.

5

Execute Exploit Validations

By combining context about software stack, versioning, exposure status, and reachability, IONIX ensures that only the right payloads are executed against the right assets, maximizing efficiency and minimizing risk.

6

Drive Fast and Actionable Remediation

Results are routed through integrations with ticketing, SOAR, and SIEM tools. Issues are written in plain language, bundled into remediation clusters, and prioritized based on asset criticality, exploitability, and blast radius. This shortens mean time to remediation (MTTR) and empowers teams to act with confidence.
