CVE-2026-75031 – Unauthenticated Remote Code Execution – Interchange (all versions)

Be the first to know when new zero-days emerge:

Summary

CVE-2026-75031 is a critical code injection vulnerability (CWE-94) in the Interchange open-source e-commerce platform’s "quick question" admin feature. The flaw allows an unauthenticated remote attacker to inject and execute arbitrary Perl code on the server by supplying crafted parameters to the affected page. It carries a CVSS v3.1 base score of 9.8 (Critical) and affects all released versions of Interchange prior to the fix.

Technical details

  • Root cause: The quick_question.html admin template passes the yes and no CGI parameters directly into a [calc] Interchange tag block that is reparsed as template code, without sanitizing the input or restricting access to authenticated administrators.
  • Trigger conditions: An attacker sends a request to the admin/quick_question endpoint with Perl code embedded in the no (or yes) parameter, e.g. using [perl]...[/perl] tags; the template engine reparses and executes the embedded code.
  • Attack vector: Network — the endpoint is reachable without authentication and without any prior user interaction.
  • Impact: By default, injected Perl code executes inside a restricted Safe compartment, limiting the operations available to the attacker. However, if the non-default AllowGlobal directive is enabled for the targeted catalog, the injected code runs with the full permissions of the Interchange server process, resulting in complete compromise of confidentiality, integrity, and availability.

Affected software

  • Interchange (interchange/interchange) — all versions containing the vulnerable dist/lib/UI/pages/admin/quick_question.html template, prior to the security fix applied in commit 65b6ea9d3761dd1fd2071c962819562afa335e4e.

Severity

  • CVSS v3.1 Base Score: 9.8 (Critical)
  • Vector: CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H

Mitigation and recommended actions

  • Immediate: Apply the official fix, which requires super-user (if-mm super) access to reach the quick-question page, disables template reparsing (reparse=0) on the affected [calc] block, and applies entity filtering to the yes/no CGI parameters. Upgrade to or patch with the code from commit 65b6ea9d3761dd1fd2071c962819562afa335e4e in the Interchange repository.
  • If immediate patching is not possible:
    • Restrict or disable access to the admin/quick_question endpoint at the web server or reverse proxy layer until patched.
    • Ensure the AllowGlobal directive is not enabled for any catalog, as this significantly increases the impact of successful exploitation.
    • Monitor web server logs for requests to quick_question containing [perl], [calc], or other Interchange tag syntax in query parameters.

How IONIX’s External Exposure Management Platform Detects and Validates
Zero-Days to Shrink MTTR

1

Map your entire attack surface (continously)

IONIX uses multi-factor discovery methods, including DNS analysis, certificate mapping, metadata inspection, and more, to automatically map every internet-facing asset across your environment. This includes cloud instances, third-party platforms, shadow IT, and even forgotten infrastructure that traditional tools miss.

2

Monitor for new CVEs

Dozens of threat intel feeds using agentic technology are continuously analyzed to detect the appearance of proof-of-concept code, exploit kits, and indicators of active targeting. IONIX goes further by applying AI to proactively evaluate whether emerging vulnerabilities are likely to be exploited, even before PoCs go public.

3

Identify Potential External Exposures

Not all CVEs matter. IONIX filters vulnerabilities by asking attacker-centric questions: Can it be reached from the internet? Does it require authentication? Is it being exploited in the wild? This dramatically reduces noise and focuses teams on threats that can actually be weaponized.

4

Create Safe, Scalable Exploit Validations

IONIX transforms real-world PoCs into safe, non-intrusive test payloads that can be run in production environments without disruption. These simulations are precisely targeted to the systems that are vulnerable, ensuring rapid validation without unnecessary load.

5

Execute Exploit Validations

By combining context about software stack, versioning, exposure status, and reachability, IONIX ensures that only the right payloads are executed against the right assets, maximizing efficiency and minimizing risk.

6

Drive Fast and Actionable Remediation

Results are routed through integrations with ticketing, SOAR, and SIEM tools. Issues are written in plain language, bundled into remediation clusters, and prioritized based on asset criticality, exploitability, and blast radius. This shortens mean time to remediation (MTTR) and empowers teams to act with confidence.
