Summary
CVE-2026-105324 is an HTTP header injection vulnerability in the start-page-loader.cgi component of ASUSTOR’s ADM network-attached storage operating system. By injecting crafted headers via the state parameter, an unauthenticated remote attacker can abuse the underlying web server’s X-Sendfile mechanism to read arbitrary files on the host system. The flaw carries a CVSS score of 9.2 (Critical) and requires no authentication or user interaction, making any internet-exposed ADM device a potential target.
Technical details
- Root cause: Improper neutralization of CRLF sequences in HTTP headers (CWE-113) within the
start-page-loader.cgiscript, allowing HTTP request/response splitting. - Trigger conditions: An attacker submits a crafted HTTP request in which the
stateparameter contains injected header content; this manipulates the response headers processed by the web server. - Attack vector: Network-based, no authentication or privileges required, no user interaction needed.
- Impact: The injected headers trigger the web server’s X-Sendfile directive, causing it to serve arbitrary files from the host filesystem to the unauthenticated attacker, resulting in high-impact confidentiality loss (arbitrary file disclosure). No integrity or availability impact is reported.
Affected software
- ASUSTOR ADM versions 4.1.0 through 4.3.3.RWC1
- ASUSTOR ADM versions 5.0.0 through 5.1.4.RL21
Severity
- CVSS Score: 9.2 (Critical)
- CVSS Vector: CVSS:4.0/AV:N/AC:L/AT:N/PR:N/UI:N/VC:H/VI:N/VA:N/SC:H/SI:N/SA:N
Mitigation and recommended actions
- Immediate: Upgrade ADM to version 5.1.4.RM62 or later (for the 5.0–5.1 branch), or to version 4.3.3.RY62 or later (for the 4.1–4.3 branch).
- If immediate patching is not possible: Restrict network access to the ADM web management interface (e.g., firewall rules, VPN-only access) so it is not directly reachable from the internet, and disable remote/WAN access to the device until patched.
