Summary

CVE-2026-102427 is a critical unrestricted file upload vulnerability (CWE-434) in the OrdaSoft Joomla CCK extension (com_os_cck) that allows a fully unauthenticated attacker to upload a PHP script and achieve remote code execution on the underlying web server. The flaw affects versions 1.0.0 through 8.3.15 and carries a maximum CVSS score of 10.0. Any internet-facing Joomla site with this extension installed is exposed to complete compromise without any login or user interaction.

Technical details

  • The component’s frontend routing exposes the task=getContent action, which reaches site/uploader.php with no authentication or access-control check anywhere in the dispatch chain.
  • The handler performs a genuine magic-byte/MIME check on uploaded content, but the extension allow-list intended to restrict which file extensions could be saved was present in the source code but commented out.
  • The saved file’s extension is taken directly from the attacker-supplied filename with no validation, and the file is written to a path under the Joomla web root that PHP executes.
  • An attacker crafts an image/PHP polyglot file — one whose header bytes satisfy the MIME check while PHP source is appended afterward — and uploads it with a .php extension of their choosing, bypassing the intended restriction entirely.
  • Attack vector is network-based, requires low complexity, no privileges, and no user interaction, resulting in full compromise of confidentiality, integrity, and availability of the host.

Affected software

  • OrdaSoft Joomla CCK extension (com_os_cck), versions 1.0.0 through 8.3.15
  • Fixed in version 8.3.16 and later

Severity

  • CVSS v4.0 Base Score: 10.0 (Critical)
  • Vector: CVSS:4.0/AV:N/AC:L/AT:N/PR:N/UI:N/VC:H/VI:H/VA:H/SC:H/SI:H/SA:H

Mitigation and recommended actions

  • Immediate: Upgrade OrdaSoft Joomla CCK (com_os_cck) to version 8.3.16 or later, which restores the file extension allow-list and closes the upload path.
  • If immediate patching is not possible:
    • Restrict or block external access to the site/uploader.php endpoint and the task=getContent route at the web server or WAF layer until patched.
    • Review the web root and any upload directories used by the extension for unexpected .php files or other executable content that may indicate prior exploitation.
    • Disable or temporarily remove the OrdaSoft CCK component if it is not business-critical, pending the update.

How IONIX’s External Exposure Management Platform Detects and Validates
Zero-Days to Shrink MTTR

1

Map your entire attack surface (continously)

IONIX uses multi-factor discovery methods, including DNS analysis, certificate mapping, metadata inspection, and more, to automatically map every internet-facing asset across your environment. This includes cloud instances, third-party platforms, shadow IT, and even forgotten infrastructure that traditional tools miss.

2

Monitor for new CVEs

Dozens of threat intel feeds using agentic technology are continuously analyzed to detect the appearance of proof-of-concept code, exploit kits, and indicators of active targeting. IONIX goes further by applying AI to proactively evaluate whether emerging vulnerabilities are likely to be exploited, even before PoCs go public.

3

Identify Potential External Exposures

Not all CVEs matter. IONIX filters vulnerabilities by asking attacker-centric questions: Can it be reached from the internet? Does it require authentication? Is it being exploited in the wild? This dramatically reduces noise and focuses teams on threats that can actually be weaponized.

4

Create Safe, Scalable Exploit Validations

IONIX transforms real-world PoCs into safe, non-intrusive test payloads that can be run in production environments without disruption. These simulations are precisely targeted to the systems that are vulnerable, ensuring rapid validation without unnecessary load.

5

Execute Exploit Validations

By combining context about software stack, versioning, exposure status, and reachability, IONIX ensures that only the right payloads are executed against the right assets, maximizing efficiency and minimizing risk.

6

Drive Fast and Actionable Remediation

Results are routed through integrations with ticketing, SOAR, and SIEM tools. Issues are written in plain language, bundled into remediation clusters, and prioritized based on asset criticality, exploitability, and blast radius. This shortens mean time to remediation (MTTR) and empowers teams to act with confidence.
