Summary
CVE-2026-104472 is a missing authorization vulnerability (CWE-862) in YesWiki, a PHP-based collaborative wiki platform. The attachment download handler fails to verify page-level read permissions before streaming a file, allowing an unauthenticated attacker who knows a page tag and filename to retrieve attachments from pages that are otherwise protected by YesWiki’s read ACLs. The flaw is rated HIGH severity and is remotely exploitable without any authentication or user interaction.
Technical details
- Root cause: The attachment download handler delegates directly to the attachment library to stream the requested file but never invokes the page/read authorization check (e.g.,
HasAccess('read')) that normally gates access to a page’s content. - Trigger conditions: Because module/attachment ACLs default to public access, the download endpoint remains reachable even when the parent page’s body is restricted by a read ACL. An attacker only needs to know (or guess/enumerate) the page tag and the attached filename.
- Attack vector: Network-based, unauthenticated, no user interaction required (AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N).
- Impact: Confidentiality impact only — disclosure of files attached to access-restricted pages, which may include sensitive documents, internal records, or other confidential content stored on the wiki. No impact to integrity or availability.
Affected software
- YesWiki versions 4.6.6 and all earlier versions.
- Fixed in YesWiki 4.6.7 (released August 31, 2026), which addressed this access-control failure along with other security fixes in that release.

Mitigation and recommended actions
- Immediate: Upgrade YesWiki to version 4.6.7 or later, which restores proper authorization checks on the attachment download path.
- If patching is not immediately possible:
- Restrict or disable anonymous/unauthenticated network access to the wiki’s attachment/download handler at the web server or reverse proxy layer until the upgrade can be applied.
- Audit attachments on sensitive or restricted pages and remove or re-secure any files that should not be publicly retrievable.
- Monitor web server logs for unusual or enumerative requests to attachment/download endpoints referencing unexpected page tags or filenames.
