Summary
CVE-2026-15989 is a critical unauthenticated privilege escalation vulnerability in the Super Forms – Drag & Drop Form Builder plugin for WordPress, affecting the Register & Login add-on. The flaw allows an unauthenticated attacker to create a new WordPress user with the Administrator role by submitting a crafted role parameter through a registration form. The vulnerability carries a CVSS v3.1 base score of 9.8 (Critical).
Technical details
- Root cause: The Super Forms Register & Login add-on does not validate or restrict the user-submitted
roleparameter before passing it to WordPress’s native user-creation functions. - Trigger conditions: A site must have the Super Forms Register & Login add-on active with a user-registration form exposed to the public.
- Attack vector: Network-based and unauthenticated — an attacker submits a registration request with
role=administrator(or another privileged role) injected into the form data; no prior account, authentication, or user interaction is required. - Impact: Successful exploitation lets an attacker create a fully privileged Administrator account on the target WordPress site, leading to complete compromise of confidentiality, integrity, and availability (e.g., plugin/theme installation for code execution, content tampering, data theft).
- Weakness class: CWE-269 – Improper Privilege Management.
Affected software
- Super Forms – Drag & Drop Form Builder (WordPress plugin), versions 0 through 6.3.316 (inclusive), when the Register & Login add-on is in use.
Severity
- CVSS v3.1 Base Score: 9.8 (Critical)

Mitigation and recommended actions
- Immediate: Update Super Forms – Drag & Drop Form Builder to version 6.3.317 or later, which addresses the role-parameter validation issue.
- If immediate patching is not possible:
- Disable or remove any public-facing registration forms created with the Register & Login add-on until the plugin is updated.
- Review the WordPress Users list for unexpected or unauthorized Administrator accounts and remove any that cannot be attributed to legitimate staff.
- Restrict access to
wp-login.php/registration endpoints at the network or WAF layer where feasible until patched.
