CVE-2026-16520 – Unauthenticated Admin Credential Disclosure via SQL Injection – Genian NAC/ZTNA (mu

Be the first to know when new zero-days emerge:

Summary

CVE-2026-16520 is a high-severity vulnerability in Genians’ Genian NAC (V4.0 and V5.0) and Genian ZTNA (V6.0) products, caused by improper input validation and exposure of sensitive information through data queries in the Client Web Portal (CWP) user search feature. The flaw permits SQL injection and authentication bypass, allowing an unauthenticated network attacker to retrieve administrator credentials. It carries a CVSS score of 8.7 (High).

Technical details

  • Root cause: the CWP user search functionality fails to properly validate/authenticate input before executing backend data queries, enabling SQL injection.
  • The same weakness allows exposure of sensitive information (including administrator credentials) through crafted queries, resulting in authentication bypass.
  • Attack vector: Network — exploitable remotely, no privileges or user interaction required (AV:N/AC:L/AT:N/PR:N/UI:N).
  • Impact: high confidentiality loss (VC:H) — disclosure of sensitive/credential data via the exposed search feature; no direct integrity or availability impact reported.
  • Mapped weaknesses: CWE-20 (Improper Input Validation) and CWE-202 (Exposure of Sensitive Information Through Data Queries).

Affected software

  • Genian NAC V4.0: from 4.0.0 before 4.0.175 (Revision 150340)
  • Genian NAC V5.0: from 5.0.0 before 5.0.65 LTS (Revision 150331)
  • Genian NAC V5.0: from 5.0.0 before 5.0.75 LTS (Revision 150330)
  • Genian NAC V5.0: from 5.0.0 before 5.0.87 Release Stable (Revision 150329)
  • Genian NAC V5.0: from 5.0.0 before 5.0.88 (Revision 150328)
  • Genian ZTNA V6.0: from 6.0.0 before 6.0.26 LTS (Revision 150337)
  • Genian ZTNA V6.0: from 6.0.0 before 6.0.35 LTS (Revision 150336)
  • Genian ZTNA V6.0: from 6.0.0 before 6.0.47 Release Stable (Revision 150334)
  • Genian ZTNA V6.0: from 6.0.0 before 6.0.48 (Revision 150333)

Severity

CVSS v4.0 Base Score: 8.7 (High)
Vector: CVSS:4.0/AV:N/AC:L/AT:N/PR:N/UI:N/VC:H/VI:N/VA:N/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N
(No CVSS v3.1 vector has been published for this CVE by the assigning CNA.)

Mitigation and recommended actions

  • Immediate: Upgrade Genian NAC / Genian ZTNA to the fixed revisions listed above (the first revision equal to or greater than the stated thresholds for each branch).
  • If patching cannot be performed immediately: restrict or disable access to the CWP user search feature in environments where it is not required, per the vendor’s guidance; contact Genians technical support for implementation details.
  • Review administrator accounts for signs of compromise if the CWP user search feature was internet-exposed prior to patching.

How IONIX’s External Exposure Management Platform Detects and Validates
Zero-Days to Shrink MTTR

1

Map your entire attack surface (continously)

IONIX uses multi-factor discovery methods, including DNS analysis, certificate mapping, metadata inspection, and more, to automatically map every internet-facing asset across your environment. This includes cloud instances, third-party platforms, shadow IT, and even forgotten infrastructure that traditional tools miss.

2

Monitor for new CVEs

Dozens of threat intel feeds using agentic technology are continuously analyzed to detect the appearance of proof-of-concept code, exploit kits, and indicators of active targeting. IONIX goes further by applying AI to proactively evaluate whether emerging vulnerabilities are likely to be exploited, even before PoCs go public.

3

Identify Potential External Exposures

Not all CVEs matter. IONIX filters vulnerabilities by asking attacker-centric questions: Can it be reached from the internet? Does it require authentication? Is it being exploited in the wild? This dramatically reduces noise and focuses teams on threats that can actually be weaponized.

4

Create Safe, Scalable Exploit Validations

IONIX transforms real-world PoCs into safe, non-intrusive test payloads that can be run in production environments without disruption. These simulations are precisely targeted to the systems that are vulnerable, ensuring rapid validation without unnecessary load.

5

Execute Exploit Validations

By combining context about software stack, versioning, exposure status, and reachability, IONIX ensures that only the right payloads are executed against the right assets, maximizing efficiency and minimizing risk.

6

Drive Fast and Actionable Remediation

Results are routed through integrations with ticketing, SOAR, and SIEM tools. Issues are written in plain language, bundled into remediation clusters, and prioritized based on asset criticality, exploitability, and blast radius. This shortens mean time to remediation (MTTR) and empowers teams to act with confidence.
