Summary
CVE-2026-19658 is a PHP Object Injection (Deserialization of Untrusted Data) vulnerability affecting the Give Tributes WordPress plugin, developed by LiquidWeb, in all versions up to and including 2.3.1. The flaw allows unauthenticated attackers to submit crafted serialized data that the plugin deserializes without validation, and carries a CVSS v3.1 score of 9.8 (Critical).
Technical details
- Root cause: The plugin deserializes untrusted input via the
give_tributes_ecard_notify[recipient][personalized][]parameter without properly validating or sanitizing it, resulting in a classic PHP Object Injection (CWE-502) condition. - Trigger condition: The vulnerable code path is only reachable when the donation form’s "Allow Multiple Recipients" option is enabled. When multiple recipients are configured, attacker-supplied data bypasses
sanitize_textarea_field(), which is applied only on the single-recipient path and would otherwise neutralize the payload. - Attack vector: Network-based and does not require authentication or user interaction, allowing remote exploitation directly against the exposed WordPress site.
- Impact: By itself, the plugin does not contain a known Property-Oriented Programming (POP) chain, so object injection alone has no defined side effect. However, if a POP chain exists in another installed plugin or theme, an attacker could leverage it to delete arbitrary files, retrieve sensitive data, or achieve remote code execution.
Affected software
- Give Tributes WordPress plugin (by LiquidWeb) — versions 0 through 2.3.1 (inclusive)
Severity
- CVSS v3.1 Base Score: 9.8 (Critical)

Mitigation and recommended actions
- Immediate: Update Give Tributes to version 2.3.1.1 or later, which contains security hardening around eCard recipient data handling.
- If patching is not immediately possible: Disable the "Allow Multiple Recipients" option on donation forms to remove the reachable code path, and audit installed plugins/themes for known insecure PHP unserialize/POP-chain–prone code that could be chained with this issue.
- Restrict or monitor unauthenticated form submissions to the donation/eCard notification endpoint where feasible.
