Summary
CVE-2026-55383 is an improper authorization (CWE-285) vulnerability in the public customer routes of InvoiceShelf, an open-source invoicing application. It affects versions prior to 2.4.0 and is rated High (CVSS 8.2). An unauthenticated remote attacker can access invoices, estimates and payment records that belong to other documents or companies.
Technical details
- Root cause: the public customer routes use an EmailLog token’s numeric
mailable_idwithout verifyingmailable_type. A token issued for one document type can therefore expose a different document, including one belonging to a different company, when the numeric IDs collide. - Expired tokens remain valid on the JSON API endpoints, so they can still be used to retrieve data.
- Trigger conditions: the attacker needs a token (for example, from an email link) and a numeric ID collision between document types, or an expired token.
- Attack vector: network, with no authentication and no user interaction.
- Impact: high confidentiality impact (unauthorized access to invoices, estimates and payment records) and low integrity impact.
Affected software
- InvoiceShelf versions prior to 2.4.0
Severity
- CVSS v3.1 base score: 8.2 (High)
- Vector:
CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:L/A:N
Mitigation and recommended actions
- Immediate: upgrade InvoiceShelf to version 2.4.0 or later.
- No workarounds are listed in the advisory. Until you can patch, consider restricting access to the public customer routes to trusted networks.
