Summary

CVE-2026-57624 is a maximum-severity unauthenticated Remote Code Execution (RCE) vulnerability affecting Blocksy Companion Pro, a premium WordPress plugin developed by Creative Themes, in all versions up to and including 2.1.46. The flaw carries a CVSS 3.1 base score of 10.0 (Critical) and can be exploited remotely by any unauthenticated attacker without user interaction or special conditions, granting full control over the affected WordPress server. Creative Themes released a patched version — 2.1.47 — on June 24, 2026, and all sites running the plugin should update immediately.

Technical details

  • Root cause: Improper control of code generation (CWE-94 — Code Injection), allowing attacker-controlled input to be evaluated as executable code within the WordPress PHP environment.
  • Attack vector: The vulnerability is exploitable over the network via crafted unauthenticated HTTP requests to affected WordPress installations running the plugin; no login, API key, or prior foothold is required.
  • Trigger conditions: Attack Complexity is Low (AC:L), meaning no special target configuration, race condition, or non-default setting is needed to trigger the flaw — any default deployment of the plugin in the affected version range is vulnerable.
  • Impact: Successful exploitation allows an unauthenticated remote attacker to execute arbitrary commands on the underlying server. The CVSS Scope metric is Changed (S:C), indicating that the impact extends beyond the WordPress application itself to the hosting environment — enabling full server compromise, data exfiltration, defacement, lateral movement, and persistent backdoor installation.

Mitigation and recommended actions

  • Immediate action: Update Blocksy Companion Pro to version 2.1.47 or later. The patched release was made available by Creative Themes on June 24, 2026.
  • If immediate patching is not feasible: Deactivate the Blocksy Companion Pro plugin until the update can be applied, and restrict inbound HTTP/HTTPS access to affected WordPress installations at the network or WAF level to reduce exposure.
