Summary

CVE-2026-60438 is a critical vulnerability in the mod_ssl component of Oracle HTTP Server (Oracle Fusion Middleware), affecting versions 12.2.1.4.0 and 14.1.2.0.0. The flaw is easily exploitable over the network without authentication, allowing remote attackers to gain unauthorized read access to critical data as well as the ability to create, modify, or delete it. It was published on July 21, 2026 as part of Oracle’s July 2026 Critical Patch Update, carrying a CVSS 3.1 base score of 9.1 (Critical).

Mitigation and recommended actions

  • Immediate: Apply Oracle’s July 2026 Critical Patch Update (CPU), which contains the official fix for CVE-2026-60438. Oracle does not publish patched product version numbers separately; the CPU patch bundle is the authoritative remediation vehicle.
  • If patching is not immediately feasible: Restrict network access to Oracle HTTP Server instances at the perimeter — limit inbound HTTP/HTTPS traffic to trusted sources only, and ensure Oracle HTTP Server is not directly exposed to the public internet until the patch is applied.
  • Monitor Oracle’s support portal and My Oracle Support (MOS) for any supplemental patch notes or workaround guidance specific to your deployment.
