Summary

CVE-2026-61158 is a high-severity unauthenticated information disclosure vulnerability affecting Oracle Commerce Guided Search / Oracle Commerce Experience Manager version 11.4.0. The flaw resides in the Experience Manager component and allows a remote, unauthenticated attacker to gain unauthorized read access to sensitive data by exploiting missing authentication controls over the RMI protocol. It was disclosed as part of Oracle’s July 2026 Critical Patch Update, published on July 21, 2026.

Technical details

  • Root cause: Missing authentication for a critical function (CWE-306) combined with improper access control (CWE-284) in the Experience Manager component, allowing unauthenticated access to protected RMI endpoints.
  • Trigger conditions: An attacker with network access to the host’s RMI interface can invoke exposed remote methods without supplying any credentials, requiring no user interaction and no elevated privileges.
  • Attack vector: Network-accessible via RMI; attack complexity is Low with no authentication or user interaction required.
  • Impact: Unauthorized access to critical data within the Oracle Commerce platform. The CVSS metrics confirm a HIGH confidentiality impact with no effect on integrity or availability.

Mitigation and recommended actions

  • Network mitigation: If immediate patching is not feasible, restrict network access to the RMI port of Oracle Commerce Experience Manager to trusted internal hosts only, and block exposure to untrusted networks or the public internet via firewall rules.
  • Access review: Audit firewall and network segmentation rules to confirm no RMI interface for this product is reachable from external or untrusted network segments.
