Summary

CVE-2026-70873 is a critical, unauthenticated remote code execution vulnerability in Oracle Hyperion Data Relationship Management (DRM), residing in the product’s access and security component. The flaw is network-exploitable over TCP without any credentials or user interaction, and successful exploitation gives an attacker complete control of the underlying system. Oracle rates the issue 9.8 (Critical) on the CVSS v3.1 scale and disclosed it as part of the August 2026 Critical Security Patch Update.

Mitigation and recommended actions

  • Immediate: Apply the Oracle patches released in the August 2026 Critical Security Patch Update for Oracle Hyperion Data Relationship Management. Oracle strongly recommends applying these patches as soon as possible, as this CPU addresses vulnerabilities that may be remotely exploitable without authentication.
  • If patching cannot be performed immediately:
    • Restrict network access to Hyperion Data Relationship Management to trusted internal hosts only; do not expose the service directly to the internet.
    • Use firewalls, network segmentation, or access control lists to limit inbound TCP connections to the affected component to known, trusted sources.
    • Monitor Hyperion DRM logs and network traffic for anomalous or unauthenticated access attempts targeting the access and security component.
    • Review and validate that all Oracle Hyperion instances are inventoried and confirmed patched, given the severity and ease of exploitation of this vulnerability.
