Summary
CVE-2026-74865 is a critical authentication bypass vulnerability (CWE-639, Authorization bypass through user-controlled key) in the sogo_yhn YunoHost application package, which deploys and configures the SOGo groupware server. The package sets SOGoTrustProxyAuthentication=YES, which disables password verification during HTTP Basic authentication, allowing an unauthenticated remote attacker to log in as any existing user by supplying a valid username with an arbitrary password. The issue carries a CVSS score of 9.2 (Critical).
Technical details
- Root cause: The
sogo_yhnpackage configures SOGo withSOGoTrustProxyAuthentication=YES, a setting intended for use only when a trusted reverse proxy performs its own authentication before forwarding requests to SOGo. In this package’s deployment, the setting is enabled without equivalent protection, so SOGo itself stops validating the password supplied in HTTP Basic authentication requests. - Trigger conditions: An attacker sends an HTTP Basic authentication request directly to the SOGo web interface using the username of any existing account and any arbitrary password value.
- Attack vector: Network — the flaw is exploitable remotely over HTTP(S) against the exposed SOGo login endpoint, requires no prior authentication, and needs no user interaction.
- Impact: Full account takeover of any existing SOGo user (including privileged accounts), resulting in high impact to confidentiality, integrity, and availability of mail, calendar, and contact data stored in SOGo.
Affected software
- YunoHost-Apps
sogo_yhnpackage, all versions prior to 5.8.0~ynh9
Severity

Mitigation and recommended actions
- Immediate: Upgrade the
sogo_yhnpackage to version 5.8.0~ynh9 or later, which removes the insecure proxy-trust configuration. - If immediate patching is not possible: Restrict or block direct external network access to the SOGo web interface until the update can be applied, and review SOGo/user account activity for signs of unauthorized logins performed with arbitrary passwords.
