CVE-2026-76142 – Unauthenticated Access Control Bypass on Internal IPC Endpoint – Genian NAC / ZTNA

Be the first to know when new zero-days emerge:

Summary

CVE-2026-76142 is a critical improper access control vulnerability in the internal-only IPC SOAP endpoint of the Genian NAC and Genian ZTNA policy server. Insufficient authentication on this interface allows an unauthenticated, network-based attacker to invoke internal server functions without any user interaction. The flaw carries a CVSS v4.0 base score of 9.3 (Critical), reflecting high impact to integrity and availability.

Technical details

  • Root cause: the policy server exposes an internal-only IPC SOAP endpoint that lacks sufficient authentication and access control checks (CWE-284 Improper Access Control, CWE-306 Missing Authentication for Critical Function).
  • Trigger condition: the endpoint, intended only for internal/trusted communication, can be reached and invoked externally without credentials.
  • Attack vector: network-based, no privileges and no user interaction required (CAPEC-115, authentication bypass).
  • Impact: an attacker can invoke internal server functions directly, resulting in high integrity and availability impact to the policy server, and low confidentiality impact.

Affected software

  • Genian NAC 5.0.75 LTS Release — Revisions 135823 up to (but not including) 148667
  • Genian NAC 5.0.85 Release Stable — Revisions 147181 up to (but not including) 148666
  • Genian NAC 5.0.86 Release — Revisions 148018 up to (but not including) 148665
  • Genian ZTNA 6.0.35 LTS Release — Revisions 135814 up to (but not including) 148672
  • Genian ZTNA 6.0.45 Release Stable — Revisions 147169 up to (but not including) 148671
  • Genian ZTNA 6.0.46 Release — Revisions 148028 up to (but not including) 148670

Severity

  • CVSS v4.0 Base Score: 9.3 (Critical)
  • Vector: CVSS:4.0/AV:N/AC:L/AT:N/PR:N/UI:N/VC:L/VI:H/VA:H/SC:L/SI:H/SA:H

Mitigation and recommended actions

  • Immediate: Update to the patched revision for your deployed edition:
    • Genian NAC 5.0.75 LTS → Revision 148667 or later
    • Genian NAC 5.0.85 Stable → Revision 148666 or later
    • Genian NAC 5.0.86 → Revision 148665 or later
    • Genian ZTNA 6.0.35 LTS → Revision 148672 or later
    • Genian ZTNA 6.0.45 Stable → Revision 148671 or later
    • Genian ZTNA 6.0.46 → Revision 148670 or later
  • If immediate patching is not possible: the vendor advisory states no temporary workaround is available, so restrict external/internet exposure of the policy server’s internal IPC interface through network segmentation or firewall rules until the patch can be applied.

How IONIX’s External Exposure Management Platform Detects and Validates
Zero-Days to Shrink MTTR

1

Map your entire attack surface (continously)

IONIX uses multi-factor discovery methods, including DNS analysis, certificate mapping, metadata inspection, and more, to automatically map every internet-facing asset across your environment. This includes cloud instances, third-party platforms, shadow IT, and even forgotten infrastructure that traditional tools miss.

2

Monitor for new CVEs

Dozens of threat intel feeds using agentic technology are continuously analyzed to detect the appearance of proof-of-concept code, exploit kits, and indicators of active targeting. IONIX goes further by applying AI to proactively evaluate whether emerging vulnerabilities are likely to be exploited, even before PoCs go public.

3

Identify Potential External Exposures

Not all CVEs matter. IONIX filters vulnerabilities by asking attacker-centric questions: Can it be reached from the internet? Does it require authentication? Is it being exploited in the wild? This dramatically reduces noise and focuses teams on threats that can actually be weaponized.

4

Create Safe, Scalable Exploit Validations

IONIX transforms real-world PoCs into safe, non-intrusive test payloads that can be run in production environments without disruption. These simulations are precisely targeted to the systems that are vulnerable, ensuring rapid validation without unnecessary load.

5

Execute Exploit Validations

By combining context about software stack, versioning, exposure status, and reachability, IONIX ensures that only the right payloads are executed against the right assets, maximizing efficiency and minimizing risk.

6

Drive Fast and Actionable Remediation

Results are routed through integrations with ticketing, SOAR, and SIEM tools. Issues are written in plain language, bundled into remediation clusters, and prioritized based on asset criticality, exploitability, and blast radius. This shortens mean time to remediation (MTTR) and empowers teams to act with confidence.
