Summary

CVE-2026-61201 is a critical vulnerability in Oracle PeopleSoft Enterprise CRM Common Objects (version 9.2.23), disclosed as part of Oracle’s July 2026 Critical Patch Update (released July 21, 2026). The flaw stems from missing authentication for a critical function and improper access control, allowing unauthenticated remote attackers to fully compromise the affected system with the potential to cross security boundaries into dependent components.   • Root cause: Missing authentication for a critical function (CWE-306), compounded by improper access control (CWE-284) and improper privilege management (CWE-269), allowing attackers to interact with privileged functionality without authenticating.
  • Trigger conditions: The vulnerability carries a High Attack Complexity (AC:H) rating, indicating that specific non-default configuration states or conditions must exist to exploit it; however, no privileges or user interaction are required once those conditions are met.
  • Attack vector: Fully network-accessible with no credentials or user interaction required (AV:N, PR:N, UI:N); the PeopleSoft web interface is reachable directly from the internet in many enterprise deployments.
  • Impact: Complete compromise of confidentiality, integrity, and availability (C:H/I:H/A:H); critically, the vulnerability carries a Changed Scope (S:C), meaning successful exploitation can affect resources and components beyond the directly targeted PeopleSoft CRM application itself.
