Summary
CVE-2026-93468 is a Relative Path Traversal vulnerability (CWE-23) in the Bulletin module of HGiga’s OAKlouds enterprise portal platform. The flaw allows unauthenticated, remote attackers to read arbitrary files on the underlying server’s filesystem by manipulating file path parameters. The issue affects OAKlouds-bulletin_v3 versions 2.0 and 3.0 prior to build 107, and is rated High severity.
Technical details
- Root cause: The OAKlouds Bulletin (bulletin_v3) module fails to properly sanitize or validate user-supplied file path input, permitting directory/path traversal sequences to escape the intended file-serving directory.
- Trigger conditions: No authentication or user interaction is required; an attacker only needs network access to the exposed OAKlouds bulletin endpoint.
- Attack vector: Network-based (AV:N); low attack complexity (AC:L); no privileges (PR:N) or user interaction (UI:N) required.
- Impact: Successful exploitation results in high-confidentiality impact — attackers can retrieve arbitrary system files (e.g., configuration files, credentials, or other sensitive data) from the host. There is no reported impact to integrity or availability.
Affected software
- HGiga OAKlouds-bulletin_v3-2.0 — versions before build 107
- HGiga OAKlouds-bulletin_v3-3.0 — versions before build 107
Severity
- CVSS v3.1 Base Score: 8.7 (High) — Vector:
CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:N/A:N
(Note: the CVE record also lists a CVSS v4.0 score of 8.7 using vectorCVSS:4.0/AV:N/AC:L/AT:N/PR:N/UI:N/VC:H/VI:N/VA:N/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N; NVD’s v3.1 scoring for this specific vector/impact combination corresponds to a base score of 7.5.)
Mitigation and recommended actions
- Immediate: Upgrade HGiga OAKlouds-bulletin_v3 (both the 2.0 and 3.0 product lines) to build 107 or later, as specified in the official HGiga/TWCERT advisory.
- If immediate patching is not possible:
- Restrict network access to OAKlouds portal and bulletin endpoints to trusted internal networks or VPN only; do not expose them directly to the internet.
- Deploy a web application firewall (WAF) rule to detect and block path traversal patterns (e.g.,
../, encoded traversal sequences) in requests to bulletin file-related endpoints. - Monitor web server and application logs for anomalous file access requests or traversal attempt patterns targeting the bulletin module.
- Review file system permissions to limit the scope of files readable by the web application service account.
