Summary

CVE-2026-54828 is a Missing Authorization vulnerability (CWE-862) in the Motors – Car Dealership & Classified Listings WordPress plugin by StylemixThemes, affecting all versions up to and including 1.4.109. The flaw allows unauthenticated remote attackers to bypass access controls and perform privileged write operations without any credentials, resulting in a HIGH integrity impact. It carries a CVSS v3.1 score of 7.5 (HIGH) and was discovered by security researcher HaiND through the Patchstack Bug Bounty Program.

Technical details

  • Root cause: Missing authorization checks (CWE-862) on one or more plugin actions; the plugin fails to verify the identity or permission level of the requesting party before executing sensitive operations.
  • Trigger conditions: No authentication or user interaction is required. The vulnerability is exploitable by any unauthenticated actor who can reach the WordPress instance over the network.
  • Attack vector: Network-based (AV:N), low attack complexity (AC:L), no privileges required (PR:N), no user interaction (UI:N).
  • Impact: HIGH integrity impact — an unauthenticated attacker can execute write or modification actions that should be restricted to authenticated users. No confidentiality or availability impact is associated with this vulnerability.

Mitigation and recommended actions

  • Immediate: Update the Motors – Car Dealership & Classified Listings plugin to version 1.4.110 or later, which contains the fix for this vulnerability.
  • If immediate patching is not feasible: Deactivate the plugin until the update can be applied, or restrict external network access to the WordPress installation to limit exposure.
