Summary

CVE-2026-61155 is a critical vulnerability affecting the Forge component of Oracle Commerce Guided Search Platform Services version 11.4.0, carrying a CVSS v3.1 base score of 9.1. The flaw stems from missing authentication controls within the Forge component, allowing unauthenticated remote attackers to read critical data and trigger denial-of-service conditions — including system crashes and hangs — over HTTP with no privileges or user interaction required. Oracle addressed this vulnerability in the July 2026 Critical Patch Update.

Technical details

  • Root cause: Missing authentication for a critical function in the Forge component of Oracle Commerce Guided Search Platform Services, exposing sensitive data and resource-intensive operations to unauthenticated network requests.
  • Trigger conditions: An attacker sends crafted HTTP requests to the Forge component’s exposed network interface — no credentials, no user interaction, and no elevated privileges are required. Attack complexity is low.
  • Attack vector: Remotely exploitable over the network via HTTP; the vulnerability is straightforward to trigger given low attack complexity.
  • Impact: Successful exploitation results in unauthorized access to critical data (High confidentiality impact) and denial-of-service conditions through system crashes or hangs (High availability impact). Data integrity is not affected.

Mitigation and recommended actions

  • Immediate: Apply Oracle’s July 2026 Critical Patch Update (CPU), which addresses this vulnerability in Oracle Commerce Guided Search Platform Services. Refer to the Oracle CPU advisory for patch access and installation instructions.
  • If patching is not immediately feasible: Restrict network access to the Forge component’s HTTP interface to trusted internal hosts only. Apply firewall rules to block unauthenticated external access to any ports associated with Forge, limiting exposure until the patch can be applied.
